Printed materials include catalogues for NWCU and Indiana University, commencement programs from NWCU, the Sigma Chi Magazine, and textbooks on Greek, Latin, German, and rhetoric, as well as a ritual book in cipher for the Modern Order of Essenes.

A native of Tipton, Ind., Carthon Henley Ressler also lived in Hagerstown, Cambridge City, and Richmond, Ind. He graduated from North Western Christian University (now Butler) in 1870, where he was active in the literary society. In 1875 he married Rebecca Cheesman in Hagerstown.
